This past Sunday, Marcia and I left our husbands at home to watch the Olympics while we wandered through some markets. We went through four different markets in total -- all within walking distance from one another (if you don't mind walking a lot).
The first three markets -- Petticoat Lane, Spitalfields, and Brick Lane -- had clothing, handbags, luggage, jewellery (not jewelry) and other personal items for sale. Spitalfields, an indoor market, carried the most expensive items of the three. Petticoat Lane and Brick Lane both had vendors on the streets, and they were the most crowded. Below are some photos I took of Brick Lane.
Then we walked over to the Columbia Road flower market, where you could buy all kinds of flowers and plants for your garden or your home. The market closes at 2 or 3pm, so the later we stayed, the lower the prices went.
Before we left for home, we stopped for lunch at an indoor food hall on Brick Lane that offered all types of international dishes. Marcia had an Ethiopian lunch and I had some Thai curry.
