Back in London!

Well, our planned ten-day trip to the U.S. grew into a month-long stay instead. During that extended time, I visited with Tom and Shannon in San Francisco, Carl and I attended a wedding of family friends, we visited with many friends and family members, Carl went to work in Stamford, I had half of my thyroid removed (along with some questionable but benign nodules), and my mom had her gall bladder removed.

It's almost relaxing being back here.

We arrived on the early flight this morning, and after unpacking our luggage, catching up with our London friends, and receiving a delivery of groceries, I began to plan for a visit from Tom and Shannon beginning this Sunday.

During their visit, we will all be taking a short two-day trip to Lake Country in the northwest part of the country, and I was making arrangements for rail tickets, hotel rooms, and tour guides. I spoke with one woman who worked for a local taxi company in that area, asking if the drivers ever offered private tours for their riders. She assured me they did - at any time except for one hour every weekday afternoon between 2:30 and 3:30pm. "That is the time when all the taxis in town take the kids home from school."

Interruption

We returned home to the U.S. at the end of May to attend a wedding, and then we extended our stay to take care of some medical issues. You'll hear from us again as soon as we're back in London.
