Small things noticed

On cold days, most women wear large scarves doubled up around their necks for warmth. Some days, they will wear just the scarves with only a light jacket or sweater. It is surprising how warm one can feel when the neck is all bundled up and cosy (not cozy) – even if one is wearing only a lightweight jacket.

From my childhood in Canada, I always knew that the British call the last letter of the alphabet ZED, while Americans call it ZEE. I have now learned that the letter H – that we call ‘aitch,’ the British call ‘haitch.’ (Please click on the comment below to read what my English friend, Sue, said about this.)

Dear Sue

Not all English people refer to the letter 'aitch' as 'haitch'. Only the frightfully common ones.
